Biosolutions: Sustainable Biotech Solutions

Biotechnology is becoming increasingly important for Europe’s future competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability. Biotech solutions have the potential to address many of Europe's major challenges by enabling the development of sustainable processes and products such as materials, food, and fuels. We call these solutions, biosolutions.

Through the Biosolutions DTU, the Technical University of Denmark brings together its biotechnological research and innovation. It serves as a single point of entry for companies, investors, public authorities, and researchers wishing to collaborate with DTU on biosolutions.

It acts as a bridge and broker between science, industry, and society to accelerate the green transition towards a more independent, secure, and sustainable Europe.

At DTU we...

  • Develop with industry
  • Offer research-based consultancy
  • Support innovation and entrepreneurship

Biosolutions driving the green transition

Biosolutions are built on biotechnology and biological resources. They replace and improve on fossil and chemical solutions by drawing on biological systems and components, from living micro-organisms to enzymes and other biologically derived materials.

They are directed towards sustainability and the green transition, employing micro-organisms such as bacteria, algae, yeast, and fungi to develop innovative alternatives to conventional products derived from fossil materials.
